This Sean Thomas Photography Palm Springs workshop was all about laid-back luxury, bold style, and desert vibes—with a splash of jet-set glamour. We brought together wedding photographers from all over the U.S. to experience the iconic Palm Springs culture while capturing every high-fashion moment. The workshop kicked off at the Palm Springs airport hangar, where our stylish couple landed in their private jet (because, why not?) and met up with their closest friends. With designer luggage packed into a vintage car, they cruised off to a dreamy mid-century modern estate for poolside cocktails. The afternoon was pure Palm Springs energy—sunshine, house music pouring from the speakers, cocktails in hand, and spontaneous pool dives as the sun dipped low. It was the perfect setting for a Palm Springs wedding editorial that oozed effortless chic.
The next morning, the couple and their friends set out for a private estate nestled deep in the Joshua Tree desert to prep for the big day. The vibe? Slow and intentional—leftover pastries, endless champagne, and plenty of time for hair and makeup. The ceremony setup was a Joshua Tree wedding photographer’s dream: golden florals cascading down the aisle, suede mid-century modern chairs, and a jaw-dropping floral arch framed by massive desert boulders. Guests (played by the photographers attending the editorial wedding workshop) dressed in bold shades of yellow, orange, and warm golds, creating a striking contrast against the soft, neutral desert tones.
As the sun slipped behind the horizon, everyone gathered on a massive wood deck overlooking the sprawling desert for cocktails and dinner. A sculptural floral installation framed around the face and legs of the reception table—a true statement piece—before being moved aside for the evening’s meal. The tablescape was packed with thoughtful details: hand-painted desert snake plates, textured Spanish-inspired chargers, tortoiseshell silverware, and burnt-orange linen napkins. Yellow florals and natural stones pulled straight from the desert floor completed the look. The entire weekend perfectly blended mid-century modern wedding aesthetics with bold, high-fashion energy, capturing the essence of destination wedding photography. The fashion was straight out of the ’60s and ’70s but with a modern edge—think striking colors, statement accessories, and head-turning looks. It was a high-fashion wedding editorial designed to inspire photographers and couples alike.
