When Alexa Kate Events (a destination wedding planner from Ohio) reached out about a wedding in the stunning foothills above Park City, Utah, I was instantly intrigued. The venue? Blue Sky Lodge, an Auberge Resort—a dream location for any destination wedding photographer. From the moment I hopped on a call with Emily and Brian, I knew this was going to be special. The kind of couple who radiate warmth, humor, and that effortless chemistry photographers love to capture. We spent the call laughing, chatting about their vision, and I could tell they wanted their wedding to feel like an experience—not a photoshoot. I was all in.

As an editorial wedding photographer, my goal is to blend fashion-forward images with authentic, in-the-moment storytelling. Emily and Brian completely understood that balance. They wanted beautiful portraits but cared even more about spending time with the people who traveled miles to celebrate with them. And that’s where the magic happens—when couples are fully present, their energy pours into every moment, and that’s what makes photos truly timeless. They didn’t want to step away from their guests for endless posed shots, and I didn’t want them to either. Instead, I focused on capturing the raw energy, laughter, and emotion that naturally unfolded.

The weekend kicked off with a dreamy rehearsal dinner perched high above the resort. Picture this: a golden sunset spilling over the foothills, a beautifully set table on a wooden deck, and Emily and Brian surrounded by their closest friends and family. As the sun dipped low, the sky glowed pink and gold, creating the perfect backdrop for heartfelt toasts. After dinner, everyone made their way down to the lodge for a cozy welcome party—complete with cocktails, a crackling bonfire, and s’mores. It was the perfect start to a mountain weekend.

Wedding day morning was calm but buzzing with excitement. Emily got ready with her sisters and mom in the lodge, sipping champagne and snacking on pastries while her dress hung nearby, waiting for its moment. Before heading out for her first look with Brian, she stopped in the lodge lobby for a sweet father-daughter hug—one of those small but meaningful moments I live for. The first look happened atop a hill with views stretching across the valley, where Emily and Brian exchanged private vows before rushing back to meet their guests for the main event.

The ceremony took place at another hilltop location, with panoramic views of Park City’s rolling landscape. Guests sipped champagne as Emily and Brian exchanged vows, framed by florals in soft purples, blues, and whites that popped against the mountain backdrop. Post-ceremony, the celebration moved down to the barn and lawn below the lodge. The reception was a candlelit dream—long rows of tables under the open sky, fairy lights twinkling above. Guests dined, toasted, and then made their way into the barn where a live band and DJ kept the party going deep into the night. Emily and Brian’s wedding was the perfect blend of laid-back mountain charm and high-end celebration—everything a Park City wedding should be.
