Clementina and Schuyler’s Sun Valley wedding was effortlessly chic and intimate, the kind of celebration that felt personal and perfectly timed with nature. Originally from Mexico City, Clementina had dreamed of a wedding day covered in snow—a scene she and her family had never fully experienced before. Schuyler, who spent time in Sun Valley despite his New England roots, knew this was the ideal spot for a small, family-focused event. After initial plans for an international wedding shifted due to travel uncertainties, Sun Valley became the natural choice. And when the wedding day arrived, so did the snow, blanketing the mountains and town in a layer of fresh powder, turning Clementina’s vision into a reality.
The morning kicked off in the heart of Sun Valley at Clementina’s family condo. Surrounded by her siblings and parents, she got ready in a laid-back, joyful atmosphere while snowflakes floated down outside. Clementina chose a Danielle Frankel gown—modern yet timeless—which paired perfectly with the soft winter backdrop. Schuyler spent the morning separately with his family, and the couple opted for a traditional first look at the altar. As everyone bundled up for the short drive to Our Lady of the Snows, the anticipation built.
The church, tucked into the snowy Sun Valley landscape, was an ideal setting for their Catholic ceremony. Its vaulted wood-beamed ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows created a warm yet striking space, with a two-story glass chandelier hanging above the altar. As Clementina walked down the aisle, you could feel the emotion in the room—especially when Schuyler’s eyes welled up the moment he saw her. The ceremony was filled with heartfelt moments, meaningful traditions, and a closeness that only an intimate wedding can bring. Afterward, in true spontaneous fashion, the couple and their families found themselves in an impromptu snowball fight outside the church—a first for Clementina’s family and a perfect, candid moment to capture.
With guests heading off to Aroma Restaurant for cocktails, Clementina, Schuyler, and I took a slight detour for portraits. We stopped by Trail Creek Cabin to take advantage of the freshly fallen snow, where the couple wandered through drifts of white, framed by towering trees and jagged mountain peaks in the distance. The snow was still falling lightly, and it gave every shot that dreamy, cinematic edge. Before heading to the reception, we swung by the Sun Valley Lodge for a few cozy indoor portraits, capturing the warm elegance of the space before rejoining the party.
The reception at Aroma was intimate, stylish, and full of energy. Guests gathered around candlelit tables, sharing plates of seasonal dishes and raising glasses during a round of heartfelt (and hilarious) toasts. The snow continued to fall outside as the energy inside picked up—laughter, music, and a fantastic dinner. It was one of those nights where everything felt easy and organic, with the kind of laid-back energy that made the celebration feel more like an epic family gathering than a formal wedding. For me as a destination wedding photographer, it was the perfect blend of emotional storytelling and editorial elegance—everything I aim to capture in my work.
