Ginny, an actress in Hollywood, and Jed, the bassist for The Struts, are no strangers to the spotlight, so it only made sense to craft something with an editorial edge for their engagement session. Since their wedding was going to be in the beautiful curated and groomed vineyards of Napa Valley, we wanted to do something a little bit more in-the-wild for their engagement shoot. Ginny was the one who first floated the idea of Big Sur, and I was instantly sold. With its dramatic cliffs, winding coastal roads, and moody ocean views, it’s a dream location for any destination photographer. From the start, the goal was clear: create something bold, fashionable, and story-driven—something that felt like it belonged in the pages of a high-end magazine.
Ginny worked with her stylist to pull together a lineup of killer outfits—elevated pieces that played with contrast against the rugged coastal backdrop. Think bold silhouettes, luxe fabrics, and a perfect blend of chic and unexpected. Jed’s looks were effortlessly cool, perfectly complementing Ginny’s without feeling too “matchy.” As an editorial photographer, this was my sweet spot—mixing fashion photography with authentic connection. To push the narrative even further, I sourced a classic Mercedes convertible to bring some cinematic energy to the session. It was the perfect addition, creating the feeling of a spontaneous road trip up Highway 1—windows down, salt air, and zero rush.
We wrapped the session on the beach just as the sun started dipping below the horizon. Ginny and Jed, fully leaning into the moment, ran straight into the ocean, completely ignoring the fact that they were in head-to-toe designer looks. It was carefree, electric, and exactly the kind of vibes I love capturing. From the sweeping cliffs to the crashing waves, this Big Sur engagement had it all—fashion, story, and a whole lot of heart. So much energy and chemistry between the two of them, I couldn’t help but be excited for their upcoming wedding at the Carneros resort in Napa Valley California.
